Alan Auerbach, professor of economics and law

Alan J. Auerbach is a professor of economics and law, and director of the Robert D. Burch Center for Tax Policy and Public Finance at UC Berkeley.

He is a member of the advisory committee for the Bureau of Economic Analysis in the U.S. Commerce Department and is a contributor to the National Journal's blog on the economy.

Auerbach was deputy chief of staff of the U.S. Joint Committee on Taxation in 1992, and has been a consultant to several government agencies and institutions in the United States and abroad. A former vice president of the American Economic Association, Auerbach was editor of that association's Journal of Economic Perspectives and is now editor of its American Economic Journal: Economic Policy.
