Bharati Mukherjee is a professor in the Department of English at UC Berkeley and prolific author. A native of Calcutta, India, she co-authored the acclaimed memoir “Days and Nights in Calcutta" (1977) with her husband Clark Blaise. Among numerous other works of fiction and nonfiction, she is author of “The Sorrow and the Terror: The Haunting Legacy of the Air India Tragedy" (1987). She has taught at McGill University, Skidmore College, Queens College and City University of New York. She holds a B.A. from the University of Calcutta, an M.A. from the University of Baroda, and an M.F.A and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa.
