jstoner

Jill Stoner is an associate professor of architecture and chair of UC Berkeley's Master of Architecture program. Her research focus is urban ecology, with an emphasis on reclaiming the neo-liberal metropolitan landscape of the past 50 years. Her writings include "Rain in the City" and "The Falcon's Return." She also specializes in the intersection of literature and architecture and is the author and editor of "Poems for Architects."

As a practicing architect, Stone is the recipient of numerous national and international awards many of which relate to the theme of urban wilderness. Most recently, she and her team won an "Imagining Recovery" award that marked the culmination of President Obama's first 100 days in office. She is currently writing on the potential for architecture to embrace the end of the era of excess as an opportunity to recalibrate the American dream.
