Our cast of authors Richard Gilbert, professor emeritus of economics Richard Gilbert is a professor emeritus of economics and professor of the Graduate School at UC Berkeley. He was chair of the Department of Economics at Berkeley from 2002 to 2005 and is currently chair of the Berkeley Competition Policy Center. He is also a senior consultant in the firm, CompassLexecon. His research interests include industrial organization and regulation, the economics of R&D and intellectual property, antitrust policy, and energy economics. Gilbert previously was deputy assistant attorney general for economics in the U.S. Department of Justice and was director of the University of California Energy Institute. Gilbert was a Fulbright Scholar in 1989 and a visiting fellow at Churchill College, University of Cambridge, U.K., in 1979 and 2006. He received his Ph.D. from Stanford University. - More at
