Claire Montialoux is an economist at the Institute for research on Labor and Employment (IRLE) at UC Berkeley. Her research focuses on low-wage workers and the effectiveness of back-to-work programs. She has recently written on the economic effects of raising the minimum wage to $15 in New York state, and the California cities of San Jose and Santa Clara. She is working on the effects of minimum wage increases on U.S. retail prices. She is the editor of the IRLE Policy Brief series. Prior to joining UC Berkeley, Montialoux worked at the French Treasury, MDRC, and Frontier Economics. She holds a masters degree in statistics from ENSAE Paris Tech and a masters degree in economics from the Paris School of Economics.
