Charmin Smith

head coach, Cal women's basketball team

Charmin Smith is head coach of the Cal women’s basketball team. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Smith was a star basketball player for Stanford University from 1993 to 1997, where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil and environmental engineering. After Stanford, she played professionally as a guard in the Women’s National Basketball Association. The teams she played for included the Portland Power, Minnesota Lynx, Seattle Storm and Phoenix Mercury. She was an assistant coach to the Cal women's basketball team for more than a decade before being appointed to head coach in 2019.
