Dacher Keltner

professor of psychology

Dacher Keltner is a professor of psychology and faculty director and founder of UC Berkeley's Greater Good Science Center. He studies the biological and evolutionary foundations of human goodness, including compassion, awe, laughter and love, as well as the effects of power, hierarchy, social class, psychopathology, and moral intuitions. Keltner's work has been featured in the New York Times and Time magazine, on CNN, and on KQED's "Forum with Michael Krasny," among other media outlets. His publications include Born to be Good: The Science of a Meaningful Life (W.W. Norton, 2009). He received his BA from UC Santa Barbara and his Ph.D. from Stanford University.
