Jerome Engel is the founding executive director emeritus, of the Lester Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and an adjunct professor emeritus at the Haas School of Business, where he is active in executive education and lectures on entrepreneurship, venture capital, new venture finance and technology commercialization. He is the founding national faculty director of the National Science Foundation's I-Corps Program and a general partner in Monitor Ventures, a venture capital firm organized in collaboration with the Monitor Group. Before joining UC Berkeley, Engel helped to commercialize emerging technologies through the creation of venture capital-funded ventures as the founder and Managing Partner of Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneurial Services practice in the Bay Area. He has been active in technology sectors including IT, telecommunications, biotech and medical devices. He holds degrees from Penn State University and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
