Joel Sati is a first-year student in the Jurisprudence and Social Policy Ph.D. program at UC Berkeley. His research is in legal, political and moral philosophy, with a focus on immigration and citizenship. His previous work has dealt with the political situation of undocumented immigrants, which he hopes expands to utilizing non-ideal theory to discuss marginalized people's positions in the ongoing debate on normative citizenship. He has also worked with local and national immigrants rights organizations such as CASA de Maryland, African Communities Together and the New York Immigration Coalition. He received his B.A. in philosophy from the City College of New York.
