Laurel Lucia

Labor Center Health Care Program director

Laurel Lucia is director of the Health Care Program at UC Berkeley's Labor Center, where she analyzes health care policy. Some of her recent papers have examined the health coverage and economic impacts of Affordable Care Act repeal on California, California’s Medicaid expansion, health insurance for California immigrants and the remaining uninsured in the state. Her work has been covered in the Los Angeles Times, the Atlantic and on NPR. Previously, Lucia worked on issues affecting health care workers as a researcher/policy analyst for the Service Employees International Union. Laurel received a master's degree in public policy from UC Berkeley in 2005.
