Shannon Jackson

Shannon Jackson is UC Berkeley's first associate vice chancellor of arts and design, and a professor of rhetoric and a professor of theater, dance and performance studies. Her areas of expertise include American Studies, 20th- and 21st-century art movements, social movements, local culture and intercultural citizenship in turn-of-the-century United States. Jackson’s award-winning scholarship has explored the role of the arts and performance in social reform, and the role of the arts and performance in the history of higher education. She serves on several executive boards in the arts, performance and new media, and has served as producer and principal investigator for a range of artistic residencies and community art projects in the San Francisco Bay Area, nationally and internationally.
